When you're ready, together

Shared Energy Circulation

Phase 1 of 7

Container

Warm room. Two cushions and a blanket nearby. Soft lighting; candles only at night. Each partner drinks a small glass of warm water before beginning.

Phase 2 of 7

Each gathers alone

Sit back to back, spine to spine. Each partner gathers privately: slow belly breath, attention at the lower belly and perineum, warmth building behind the navel. Spines touching share the gathering subtly. Continue until each feels the lower belly clearly warm or subtly turned on.

Phase 3 of 7

Turning to face

Turn to face each other, knees touching. Each places one palm on their own lower belly, the other on their partner's lower belly. Match the breath. On the inhale, draw warmth from your belly into your partner's. On the exhale, receive warmth back.

Phase 4 of 7

Eye and breath circuit

Open the eyes and settle into the left eye of your partner. On your inhale, breathe in what they exhale. On your exhale, send breath back into them. A continuous loop, no pause, for fifteen minutes. If this becomes too intense, lower the gaze briefly and return.

Phase 5 of 7

Yab-yum hold

Come into yab-yum: one partner cross-legged, the other in their lap, legs wrapped. Foreheads touching, palms on hearts. Continue the breath circuit. Imagine warmth rising up both spines together, over both crowns, down both fronts, through the genitals, into both bellies. A single shared orbit.

Phase 6 of 7

Lying down close

Move into lying together, full body contact on your sides or face to face. Stay there in silence. If sexual contact emerges, let it be slow: still penetration, external touch, or held grinding without chasing orgasm. If orgasm approaches, breathe upward and soften the pelvic floor before deciding whether to release. If sex does not emerge, holding is enough.

Phase 7 of 7

Close

Sit up together. Each places their palms over their own lower belly for one minute of quiet. One sentence each: what your body knows about your partner now that it did not at the start.

Coming back

After the ritual

  • Stay close and warm for at least an hour.
  • Eat something simple and warm together.
  • Do not check phones for the rest of the day.
  • Notice during the week whether warmth in your own belly comes back when you think of your partner.
